The latest reports from a Köln source believes Leverkusen have a few options depending on how Wirtz plans his future.

It is looking likely that Florian Wirtz will not sign a contract extension at Bayer Leverkusen, according to Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.

However, it is conceivable that the 22-year-old could stay until the 2026 World Cup, which those responsible would reluctantly agree to.

In that scenario, Die Werkself bosses would prefer to sell Wirtz this summer in order to pocket a higher transfer fee should he not want to extend.

Bayer 04 are likely to ask for around €150m including add-ons this summer, with Wirtz able to choose from almost all of Europe’s top clubs.

Bayern Munich continue to show strong interest, although Wirtz and his father Hans did not want to comment on the current situation when asked.
