According to BILD, the 39-year-old is expected to be included in the squad for Friday’s clash with Borussia Mönchengladbach and could even replace Jonas Urbig between the posts.

Neuer was pictured in training on Wednesday and completed the full session without issue, fuelling optimism that he will make his comeback at home against Gladbach. The Bayern shot stopper has been sidelined with a calf problem after being substituted at half-time during the 3-0 victory away at Bremen on 14 February.

There was further positive news for Vincent Kompany’s side, as Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Dayot Upamecano – all absent from Tuesday’s session due to load management – were back in training, eradicating any small concerns over their availability.

However, Alphonso Davies and Hiroki Ito remain sidelined. In their absence, 16-year-old U17 left-back Richard Ajayi trained with the senior squad for the first time.
