Bayern Munich have held a board meeting, focussing on their transfer strategy for the rest of the transfer window – here are the results of said meeting.
It’s been quite a busy transfer window for Bayern Munich – even though they haven’t signed many players. This summer was more about handling difficult situations and rejections while still aiming to improve the squad and its depth.
The quarterly supervisory board meeting with all the club bosses will be held at the end of August – sporting director Max Eberl’s role will definitely be discussed there. But aside from that meeting, Bayern’s club bosses have already held a transfer meeting, discussing their transfer strategy for the rest of the current transfer window.
Now it’s clear, according to a report from “Sport Bild”: the Munich bosses see no “urgent need” for further signings this summer following the arrival of Liverpool’s Luis Díaz.
The people involved in that decision are CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and President Herbert Hainer, as well as the two sporting directors Max Eberl and Christoph Freund.
Everyone at the club is pleasently surprised by the Colombian, he succeeded in making a good impression during his first days with his new club.
Yet, the decision seems to be kind of surprising – the departures of Müller, Sané, Tel and Palhinha left behind huge gaps in the squad and it remains to be seen, if Díaz, Bischof, Wanner and Karl can fill those accordingly.
If anything, the squad seems to have a lost a little depth, and key injuries to Musiala, Davies and Ito are already enough to worry many Bayern fans.
In addition to that, Gnabry and Coman have been quite injury-prone in the last few seasons and Bayern’s original plan was to get someone in, who can step in at any time and in any attacking role, ideally as a replacement for Harry Kane. Now, there is seemingly no need for that anymore.
There is however, one exemption to the board’s assessment of the transfer strategy: Nick Woltemade. There is reportedly an “own budget”, just for him.
The 23-year-old still has a contract with VfB Stuttgart until June 2028. While the striker is said to be pushing for a move to Bayern, the Stuttgart bosses have so far blocked every offer and did not want to meet with Bayern for personal talks.
“Nick will very, very likely be part of the squad again this season,” said Stuttgart’s sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth. Should Stuttgart however have a change of heart, Bayern will be right there to secure the signature of Woltemade.
