Revealed: How much Chelsea ‘will have to pay Man United if they decide NOT to turn Jadon Sancho’s loan deal permanent’ this summer

Chelsea will have to pay Manchester United £5million in compensation if they decide not to make Jadon Sancho‘s loan move permanent this summer, according to a report.

Sancho’s move to Stamford Bridge included an obligation for Chelsea to buy him at the end of the season if they finish 14th or higher in the Premier League.

The fee will be between £22-25m, depending on the Blues final position in the table. Enzo Maresca’s side are currently in fourth, 15 points ahead of Tottenham in 14th.

However, as Mail Sport reported earlier this month, there is still a possibility that Sancho could end up back at Old Trafford this summer if Chelsea decide not to go through with the deal.

Relations between Chelsea and Sancho are strong, with Enzo Maresca previously lauding the 24-year-old’s debut season in west London.

According to The Athletic, the club’s intention to sign a new winger in the upcoming market relates more to uncertainly over Mikhailo Mudryk’s availability than Sancho’s performance.

Enzo Maresca stated in January that he is happy with Sancho’s tenure at Chelsea this season

The former is currently suspended from football for an indefinite amount of time after failing a drug test in December 2024.

Regarding Sancho’s tenure at Chelsea, Maresca, who worked with the winger during his youth days at Manchester City, said in January: ‘For me he’s doing very well.

‘I am quite surprised with Jadon, because I knew Jadon already [from seeing him at his previous clubs] and I know what I expected from him, but in terms of being consistent, he’s doing very well.

‘Apart from a short part of the season [early November] when he had some problems. When he was out ill but for the rest he has been very good.

‘I expected him to do well, but for all the players doing well for a long period is not easy, and he has been doing well for a long period already. He’s doing well, now he just needs to continue going in that way.’

Since joining Chelsea, Sancho has scored two goals and provided four assists in 23 Premier League games, putting him three goal contributions away from his most prolific season in a Man United shirt.

However, three of these assists came in his first three games in a blue shirt, meaning he has managed just one in the league since late September.

Sancho has gone 13 games without a goal contribution, and a further 19 without finding the back of the net.
