Juventus could save a colossal €15 million if Thiago Motta takes over as the new head coach at Bayer Leverkusen.

Motta has been rumoured to be amongst the candidates that the Bundesliga side are considering to replace former Manchester United head coach Erik Ten Hag, who was dismissed after just two games in charge of the club.

According to what has been published by TuttoMercatoWeb, Motta’s contract from his time at Juventus runs until 2027 and if he joins Leverkusen, the remaining €15 million from the deal will no longer have to be paid to the player.

What next for Thiago Motta after failed Juventus adventure

However, Tuttosport are reporting that Motta is not overly convinced by the job at Leverkusen, or any for that matter.

The coach reportedly wants to take a sabbatical and wants to avoid a project like the Bundesliga side, that has lost a lot of steam in the past few months after head coach Xabi Alonso joined Real Madrid and star players like Florian Wirtz and Jeremy Frimpong left the club.

Still earning a salary from the Bianconeri, Motta need not rush into a new job but senior figures at Juventus will be hoping he can be convinced.
