What Mohamed Salah said to Jurgen Klopp during their heated touchline spat last weekend has been revealed, according to a professional lip reader.

Liverpool‘s title push took another heavy blow on Saturday when they were held to a point by West Ham, drawing 2-2 despite leading in the game and needing a win to keep their faint title hopes alive.

Their problems were highlighted at the London Stadium when Klopp and Salah could be seen getting visibly angry with each other before the Egyptian was introduced as a substitute, with Darwin Nunez having to step in and separate the two staple pieces of Liverpool’s last decade.

Footage indicated that the flash point began after a disagreement about the way Salah shook his manager’s hand ahead of his entry to the field.

According to Sportbible via lip reader John Cassidy, Salah said: ‘There’s nothing I can do about that, nothing.’

Cassidy goes on to claim that, though Klopp’s response was obscured, he indicated Salah was not ready as quickly as he would have liked him to be.

The Reds boss then walked over and agitated Salah with a response that again could not be determined.

It’s at this point the winger lost his cool and reportedly replied: ‘I will, I will get a red card, after seven years, after seven years’ service, after seven years!’

Darwin Nunez was then forced to usher away his team-mate before the situation escalated any further.

After the incident, Salah ignored his manager as he walked onto the pitch at full-time, the 31-year-old then told reporters ‘If I speak, there will be fire’ when walking through the mixed zone.

The stunning altercation raised doubt over his future at the club. Salah’s current deal expires in 2025, which may have motivated the Reds to cash in on the ageing striker in the summer.

However, according to The Athletic, the Reds are confident Salah will stay, despite his aforementioned contract situation and the continued interest from Saudi Arabia.

Salah has reportedly given ‘no indication of wanting to exit’, while there was claimed to be ‘no suggestion of internal concern’ following his outburst at Klopp.

He Liverpool’s top scorer this season with 24 goals in 41 matches, including 17 in the Premier League. Salah has been a driving force behind their push for success in four competitions this season.

Liverpool lifted the Carabao Cup in Klopp’s final season, but their hopes in the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League were dashed by a dip in form in recent weeks.

Salah’s future will be one of the major decisions facing Arne Slot, with the Feyenoord boss expected to appointed as Liverpool’s new manager.

Slot has been targeted to succeed Klopp following a thorough search for a successor led by Michael Edwards, the CEO of Football at owners Fenway Sports Group.

He will join a new structure under Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes.

Salah is among the stars set to enter the final year of their contract next season, along with captain Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
