REVEALED: More Americans are watching Euro 2024 than Copa America… with FOX Sports pulling in nearly 6 MILLION viewers for France-Portugal

With plenty of soccer to watch over the past few weeks, it was revealed that more Americans have tuned in to the UEFA Euros than the Copa America this year.

Despite the Copa America happening on US soil, data shows that the European championship in Germany dominates viewership across the 50 states.

Housing both tournaments in their Summer of Soccer, FOX has seen massive success with millions tuning into the network for both competitions. However, their numbers suggest a sizable gap favoring the Europeans.

FOX’s numbers show that Euro 2024 is averaging over double the viewers for the 2024 Copa America.

In the quarterfinals alone, FOX’s coverage of the Euros averaged 3.569 million viewers. With all four games available on the network, France’s quarterfinal showdown with Portugal led the way in viewership.

FOX’s numbers show that more Americans tuned into the Euros than the Copa America

Kylian Mbappe’s win over his idol Cristiano Ronaldo had 4.284m viewers and peaked at 5.7m for the penalty shootout. Meanwhile, the Netherlands’ win over Turkey and England’s triumph over Switzerland on Saturday each surpassed 4m viewers.

On the other hand, Copa America has been a success as well. However, their audience pales compared to the Euros.

The Copa America quarterfinals averaged 1.668m viewers. Still, there were noteworthy numbers such as the 2.144m people who watched Brazil’s showdown with Uruguay.

Furthermore, Colombia-Panama, which is a smaller game on paper, pulled an average of 1.187m viewers. Overall, Copa America’s quarterfinal viewership was up 420 per cent compared to the 2021 tournament and 40 per cent to the 2016 edition.

Despite making significant rises in viewership, Copa America had about half as many viewers

The Euros will conclude with the final set between Spain and England. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi and Argentina have a chance to win their second straight Copa America title against Colombia.

Both games will be aired on FOX on Sunday, July 14, with the Euro final at 3pm and the Copa final at 8pm ET.
