Revealed: The fee RB Leipzig want for Benjamin Sesko as Arsenal open talks with Mikel Arteta aiming to bolster his attacking options

Arsenal and Red Bull Leipzig have held initial discussions over a potential move for Benjamin Sesko.

Leipzig sport director Marcel Schafer and Arsenal counterpart Andrea Berta are understood to have discussed overall cost with the Bundesliga side wanting an initial £75 million for the 21-year-old. 

The Gunners have a big window ahead with a new striker at the top of sporting director Berta’s list.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta recently admitted the club could break smash their transfer record in a bid to fix their attack this summer. 

Arteta said: ‘The budget is like when you have your wedding: you plan your wedding with your wife and you give her a budget and it’s never less, it’s always more.

‘When you build a house, it’s always more. Normally this happens. You prepare for different scenarios. Then unfortunate things happen.

‘There are so many variables that can happen but there is a budget.

Andrea Berta is set to meet with clubs to discuss Arsenal’s striker targets

‘There is always an idea of what we can do, what we can improve, what the priorities are going to be and then let’s see if we can do it.’ 

Arsenal have also spoken to Sporting Lisbon regarding Viktor Gyokeres.

Meanwhile in terms of outgoings, Arsenal winger Marquinhos has joined Cruzeiro. 

The Brazilian joined Arsenal in 2022 but only made one appearance before a series of loan stints.
