Rio Ferdinand hailed Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after the Paris Saint-Germain star’s stunning goal against Aston Villa in their Champions League quarter-final.
Kvaratskhelia scored the French champions’ second goal of the night, as they recorded a 3-1 victory over Unai Emery‘s side at the Parc des Princes.
The Georgian winger struck in the 49th minute as he dribbled at half-time substitute Axel Disasi, who was deputising at right back, and fooled the defender with a superb ball roll.
Having opened up space with the trick, Kvaratskhelia fired a left footed effort into the roof of the Aston Villa net.
Speaking on TNT Sports, former Man United defender Ferdinand compared Kvaratskhelia’s to former England winger Chris Waddle.
Waddle had been known in his playing career for his dribbling skills during spells at Newcastle, Tottenham and PSG’s rivals Marseille.

Kvaratskhelia’s goal put PSG ahead with the hosts going on to win 3-1 against Aston Villa
‘The roll was nasty, other than laying him out on the floor, he eliminates him beautifully,’ Ferdinand said, speaking about Kvaratskhelia’s goal.
‘This is Waddle reincarnated, this is the only place he can score that goal.
‘He made Disasi look like a centre back playing out of position at right back, if he could have asked to come off he wouldn’t have been far off doing it.
‘They were flying down that side all that time.’
Former Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton claimed Disasi had made a mistake when faced with Kvaratskhelia, but lauded the Georgian’s stunning strike.
‘I think he [Disasi] is too square, he needs to show him down the line,’ Hutton said. ‘A finish like that is unstoppable.’
Kvaratskhelia’s goal completed PSG’s turnaround having trailed in the first half to Morgan Rogers’ opener.
Teenage winger Desire Doue scored a stunning leveller before half-time, with Kvaratskhelia’s strike coming four minutes into the second half.
Luis Enrique’s side seized full control of the tie in second half stoppage time with Nuno Mendes scoring their third, giving the French champions a two-goal cushion heading into the second leg at Villa Park.
