Rio Ferdinand jokingly described Jude Bellingham as someone ‘you want your daughter to bring home’ after the England superstar delivered a mature and composed interview in the wake of Real Madrid‘s penalty shootout win over Manchester City on Wednesday.
Bellingham scored his spot-kick for Real Madrid in the shootout to help Carlo Ancelotti‘s side book their place in the Champions League semi-finals alongside Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
City, who were vying for a second Treble in two successive seasons, fell short after Mateo Kovacic and Bernardo Silva missed their decisive penalties at the Etihad.
Bellingham, 20, spoke to Ferdinand, TNT Sports host Laura Woods and former Man City star Joleon Lescott after the match, impressing the trio with his maturity.
While the England midfielder calmly answered a difficult question about the pressure and expectations surrounding Real Madrid, Ferdinand interrupted and said: ‘How’s he answering these questions so eloquently? Tell me, how old are you bro?’

After laughing at the Manchester United legend’s comment, Bellingham continued: ‘I think you’ve got to see it as a responsibility more than a pressure.
‘If you want to come to a club like Real Madrid then you have to be willing to be criticised, be under that scrutiny and under that spotlight.
‘The club do a great job and if they don’t think you are ready they will ease you in. But if you are here then they probably think you can handle it.’
After Bellingham finished his interview to join in with the Real Madrid celebrations, Ferdinand joked: ‘He’s the type of person, if your daughter is going to bring someone home, that’s what you want them to come with!’
The 20-year-old will face off against England team-mate and Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane in the next round, meaning there will be at least one Three Lions star in the final, despite Arsenal and Manchester City crashing out of the competition.

Arsenal and City will now focus their attention on the Premier League title race, after Pep Guardiola’s side carved out a two-point lead over the Gunners and Liverpool by beating Luton Town 5-1 last weekend.
Bellingham has enjoyed a sensational first campaign at the Bernabeu, having netted 20 goals across all competitions since his £113million move from Borussia Dortmund last summer, and could end the season winning both LaLiga and the Champions League.
Real Madrid are currently top of the Spanish top flight with seven games to go, boasting a eight-point cushion over archrivals Barcelona.
