Benfica look set to close a deal to bring Colombian midfielder Richard Rios to the club from Palmeiras, with reports from Italy suggesting that despite a raised bid from Roma last night, the Giallorossi have pulled out of negotiations.
According to what has been reported by Italian newspaper the Corriere dello Sport this morning, Roma’s increased bid yesterday evening was still short of the €30 million that the Brazilian club are demanding for their midfielder.

This opens the door fully for Benfica to swoop in and close on a deal.
As Roma move for Wesley, Rios door looks closed
Flamengo full-back Wesley looks set to join Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma this summer but that may be the only player the Giallorossi sign from Brazil.

Whilst Wesley has his heart set on a move to the Italian capital, the same cannot be said for Rios.
Palmeiras have stood firm over their valuation of the player and despite multiple bids from the Serie A side, an agreement could not be reached. Roma are not prepared to keep negotiation and have, therefore, pulled out of talks.
