Real Madrid attacker Rodrygo is set to be subject of an enormous bid from the Premier League as the battle to sign the Brazil international enters a new phase.

With the Club World Cup over, the future of Rodrygo at the Bernabeu remains less certain than ever.

Although Xabi Alonso’s side will only sell the 24-year-old if he requests a transfer, there is an increasing queue of clubs stepping up with tempting offers for a player under contract until 2028.

Arsenal first took interest in Rodrygo but they have since been joined by Liverpool, with the Anfield club even taking the advantage in the race to sign the winger, according to AS. Bayern Munich are also willing to spend big on the player.

Massive bid incoming

Liverpool are poised to “bid heavily” for Rodrygo, according to the Spanish source.

Arne Slot’s side have already shattered their transfer record to bring Florian Wirtz to the club from Bayer Leverkusen, while they have also completed deals for Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong.

The Reds’ spending shows no sign of stopping, with an ambitious bid for Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak expected and now this bold move for Rodrygo.

Liverpool summer signings

Player From Fee
Florian Wirtz Bayer Leverkusen €117.5m
Milos Kerkez Bournemouth €47m
Jeremie Frimpong Bayer Leverkusen €40m
Armin Pecsi Puskas Akademia €1.78m
Freddie Woodman Preston Free Transfer

According to AS, Liverpool “will do everything in their power to make it happen”.

Slot’s side have already taken a first concrete step. Superagent Pini Zahavi has been tasked to go to Madrid to initiate contact with the club. This is expected in the coming days.

In order to get the deal done, an offer of around €100 million is needed. This is consistent with Rodrygo’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €98m.

Arsenal are also tracking the attacker as Mikel Arteta seeks more depth and quality in the wide areas. It is stressed that the Emirates club are, however, “a bit further behind” in the race.

And there is also Bayern Munich. A willingness on the Bavarians’ part to offer €100m has been confirmed, but they would rather sign Liverpool’s Luis Diaz. A €70m bid has already been made for the Colombia international winger. The Reds rejected this.

What does Rodrygo want?

Rodrygo is still primarily thinking about staying with Real Madrid, according to AS. He would not, however, object to any sale.

It is expected that he will discuss his future with the club in the next weeks and will be told by Alonso that his role at the Bernabeu will be increasingly as a replacement.

If he leaves, a transfer to the Premier League is his favoured option, giving Liverpool and Arsenal a strong advantage in the race.
