Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes has confirmed that Victor Boniface could be on the move amid reports of advanced talks with AC Milan.

According to Sky and Kicker, Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement with AC Milan for Victor Boniface to join the Serie A club on loan with an option to buy.

However, a final agreement hasn’t been reached yet, as the Nigerian international is still in talks with the Italian side.

The 24-year-old has found playing time hard to come by in pre-season, with Patrik Schick preferred by new head coach Erik ten Hag.

In addition, summer signing Christian Kofane has impressed, further reducing Boniface’s chances of reclaiming a starting spot.

Speaking on Wednesday evening, Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes admitted a move is under consideration.

“We have three strikers for one position. That’s why we’re in talks about what makes sense, what makes sense for him, what makes sense for us, and whether a move might be the right step. At the moment, it’s still open,” Rolfes told reporters.

Boniface is under contract with Leverkusen until 2028.
