Roma 0-1 Lille – Svilar: “We could have done better, but we must move forward” – Football Italia

Roma fell 1-0 to Lille at the Stadio Olimpico in their second Europa League group stage match, with Arnar Haraldsson’s early strike proving decisive.

The Giallorossi missed a golden opportunity to equalise when Artem Dovbyk and Matias Soulé were both denied from the spot, with Lille goalkeeper Ozer saving three consecutive penalties due to retakes because of encroachment.

After the match, Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar spoke to Sky Sport, via LaRoma24, reflecting on the bitter evening.

“Obviously we could have done better, at least equalise… but we move forward.”

Roma keeper Svilar: “We made more mistakes htna usual.”

Svilar admitted Roma lacked sharpness, as they failed to capitalise on a number of chances to get back into the game – after dominating for a majority of the match.

“Yes, maybe we made a few more mistakes than usual. It’s a pity, but we move on. In two days we’ll be in Florence.”

On his own performance, he was modest:

“I just do my part. It’s a pity about the goal in the fifth minute. Something could have been avoided, but as I said, we go forward.”

Haraldsson gave Lille the lead after catching the Roma defence napping, winning possession deep into the Giallorossi half and curling the ball round Svilar.

Finally, Svilar addressed Roma’s penalty woes:

“In the end, I always watch them. I think the one who takes it has a lot of courage and also wanted to score. It’s a pity, the next one will go in.”
