Roma have reportedly been in contact with Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini, who is currently the frontrunner to replace Claudio Ranieri in the Stadio Olimpico dugout at the end of the season, and have already discussed initial plans for the summer transfer window, according to Thursday’s reports.

Ranieri is currently serving as interim head coach of the Giallorossi until the end of the 2024-25 season, at which point he will step into a directorship role at the Stadio Olimpico. Part of his initial responsibilities is identifying a new long-term head coach to take over ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Gasperini, meanwhile, is out of contract with Atalanta at the end of the current season, and has already said himself that he does not intend on signing a new deal in Bergamo.

According to reports from Tuttosport on Thursday morning, Gasperini is now edging closer to a move to Roma.

Giallorossi sporting director Florent Ghisolfi has already held talks with his representatives, and Thursday’s report claims that there have also been initial discussions over plans for the summer transfer market.
