Fabrizio Romano says that new Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim believes that he has a ‘generational talent’ on his hands at Old Trafford.

Amorim arrived at Man Utd on Monday to take over from Erik ten Hag after a delay of a couple of weeks as he worked his notice at Sporting CP.

There is a good deal of expectation that the Portuguese will turn around a difficult situation at United, which sees the club languishing once again in the middle of the Premier League table.

Amorim is expected to transform the way in which the team plays, with the anticipation that he will switch to a 3-4-3 formation – and the Portuguese believes he has just the right player for the job, according to Romano.

The football transfer news expert revealed on X: “Ruben Amorim and his staff consider Leny Yoro one of the most interesting players to develop for Man United’s long term project.

“He’s considered a generational talent by the club and Amorim with his staff fully agree on that.

“Yoro’s full recovery is also at final stages.”

Amorim is right: Yoro is generational

Yoro has yet to make his competitive debut for Man Utd, having injured himself in pre-season shortly after arriving at the club.

Data analytics firm SciSports back up Amorim’s assertion that Yoro can become a generational player.

In terms of teenage centre-backs, the experts state that only Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi has a higher potential ceiling than him, although Yoro is currently more developed than the exciting 17-year-old.

Indeed, of all defenders in the Premier League, only Arsenal’s William Saliba, who also gained first-team experience in Ligue 1 before moving to England, is considered to be a better prospect.

Man Utd fans should get their first sight of Yoro in competitive action against Ipswich at Portman Road on 24 November in what will be Amorim’s debut in the dugout.
