Ronaldo revelation Inter teammate Vampeta ‘drank whole wine cellar in 2 weeks’

Inter legend Ronaldo reveals his party animal lifestyle was nothing compared to his teammate at San Siro, fellow Brazilian Vampeta. ‘He drank the whole wine cellar in two weeks.’

Il Fenomeno wore the Nerazzurri jersey from 1997 to 2002, during a period of his career where he both hit the heights of his talent and was blighted by repeated knee injuries.

He also started the lifestyle that continued at Real Madrid, which included all-night partying in Paris before flying back to Spain.

However, he reveals there was one Inter teammate who managed to be even more outlandish in his habits, midfielder Vampeta.

Ronaldo shocked by Vampeta behaviour

“He stayed at my house, and I went to Brazil,” Ronaldo told Cadena SER.

“I had a wine cellar with 100 bottles, and he drank them all in two weeks. He finished all the bottles and opened more crates he had in the apartment until he found one that was special. It was a 1976 bottle that I bought at a restaurant in Paris for €10k.

“He and his friends opened this bottle and gave us each a plastic cup. He said it was hot and put ice in it.”

Vampeta was at Inter for only a brief time, from 2000 to January 2001, going on to Paris Saint-Germain.

All that excess had an effect on Ronaldo’s physique, as while he had a lot of muscle, he was also too often overweight.

“I didn’t know what you had to do to be a player, so I did what was shown to me. To rise to the top, you have to develop technically, tactically, and physically,” added the Brazilian.

“People often tell me I was a beast physically, and what a gift it was. Damn, I trained a lot. Nobody gets there that fast without training.”
