Man Utd legend Roy Keane has delivered a damning verdict on Marcus Rashford‘s future.
Rashford was dropped from the matchday squad for the Manchester derby against Man City, a game he has always thrived in as a local lad, and Roy Keane seems to be in favour of a radical solution to the striker’s problems.
“Sometimes I think it’s good to part ways,” said Keane when discussing the situation on Sky Sports, indicating quite shockingly that he believes the best thing for Rashford to do is to leave Old Trafford in the coming January transfer window.
Keane indicated that new Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim was through dealing with the dramas that seem to plague Rashford. “Enough is enough.”

Perhaps Keane’s most cutting point, in addition to the dropping, is that this news which has come as a massive shock was entirely predictable. “There’s not that big a surprise,” he said, “we’ve seen it coming.”
Keane’s summation wasn’t entirely negative as he did add, “we’ll see how they react to this big disappointment,” indicating that he believes that Rashford (and Alejandro Garnacho, who was also dropped) will be able to get back into their manager’s good graces and return to the Man Utd squad, if not the starting XI.
Ruben Amorim not sending a message
When Ruben Amorim was asked about his decision to drop Marcus Rashford, he unsurprisingly underplayed the severity of the gesture.
“I don’t want to send a message, it is simply an evaluation and they know it,” Amorim said to Sky Sports before the game.
“We try to evaluate everything. Training performance, game performances, engagement with team-mates, push their team-mates up. Everything is on the line when we analyse and try to choose the players. It is my selection. Simple.”

So Amorim clearly wants to frame the decision to drop Rashford as a technical decision, but given that Rashford and Garnacho are proven match-winners with good track records against Man City in particular, Amorim’s move to exclude them cannot be taken so lightly.
Garnacho’s age probably insulates him from serious repercussions, but at 27 years-old and with transfer rumours swirling around him, perhaps Roy Keane’s suggestion for Marcus Rashford may end up coming true?
