Ruben Amorim has clarified his comments about Christian Eriksen‘s heart condition after confirming that the Dane will return to the Manchester United squad at Everton on Saturday.
Eriksen missed last weekend’s defeat at Tottenham due to illness, and Amorim raised concerns afterwards by saying United had to be careful that a high temperature could affect the player’s heart-rate in light of his cardiac arrest on the pitch in June 2021.
Eriksen put out a statement on social media during the week to ease fears over his health, and Amorim admitted on Friday that his lack of English was partly to blame for the mix-up.
‘With Chris it was a misunderstanding, I want to be really clear on that,’ said the United boss.
‘He’s healthy and he’s ready to play for many years at a high level. My limitations are explaining the injuries.’
Amorim confirmed that Leny Yoro, who also missed the Spurs game through illness, and Manuel Ugarte will be back in the squad for United’s last-ever trip to Goodison Park.

Ruben Amorim clarified some of his comments about Eriksen during Friday’s press conference
Amorim had unintentionally sparked concern for Eriksen, who suffered a heart attack in 2021
‘It’s been a good week because we didn’t lose players and we recovered some,’ he added.
But Amad Diallo has joined Lisandro Martinez on the sidelines for the rest of the season and Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton are still out.
‘It’s hard to know [when they will return],’ said Amorim. ‘Amad is for a long time. Mase continues to make his recovery, Luke as well, I don’t have a day.
‘Kobbie seems to be the closest but not now. Altay is making the recovery, Tom is making the recovery. We don’t have a date.’
