The Red Devils are gearing up for one of the biggest transfer windows in recent history. Man Utd will have to completely rebuild their squad after sacking Erik ten Hag and replacing him with Amorim in late 2024.

Due to the completely different styles of the two coaches, the Manchester giants will have to overhaul their side in upcoming transfer windows, starting this summer.

In January, only full-back Patrick Dorgu and centre-back Ayden Heaven arrived, so the next window is expected to be significantly busier. A host of players are likely to be axed as Man Utd need to raise funds before they can start thinking about adding high-profile signings.

The Old Trafford side have been linked with the likes of Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, but their financial and sporting situation means that it will be a struggle to attract these kinds of elite players.

Amorim makes ‘big’ demand

Despite this, head coach Amorim has made it clear that he expects the club to sign ‘one or two big players’ this summer. “I just want to focus on our strengths and bring one or two players, big players,” he said ahead of Sunday’s Manchester Derby.

“It’s characteristics that we don’t have in our squad, trying to see the gaps. When I say big players, I’m not saying from Real Madrid et cetera, it’s big players in the way I see the game.”

He later added: “So when I say about recruitment, it’s not just the big names and to spend a lot of money. It’s sometimes the player who is 17 years old, that is in another top club and has finished his contract and we can use the Manchester United brand to bring that kid.

“It’s sometimes that the recruitment means to pay attention to these kids that have a lot of talent, but don’t have the space in different clubs to try to bring them here. And then the academy, we are improving that. You can see that we have some players with quality there so that is not recruitment, but is really important for us.”
