Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim heaped praise on goalkeeper Altay Bayindir following his impressive performance against Arsenal in the FA Cup third round.
The Red Devils continued their defence of the FA Cup with a penalty shoot-out win against the Gunners. They had to work hard, having played with 10 men for 60 minutes.
Bayindir was partly responsible for the Gunners’ equaliser with a poor punch, but he made amends with six saves before denying Kai Havertz in the shoot-out at the Emirates.
Speaking after the game, Amorim was delighted for the Turkey international and said that he is like a hero after his sensational showing in the FA Cup third round.
Amorim said: “He’s a good guy, he works a lot and life has beautiful things. A few weeks ago we were suffering through a difficult moment but now he’s like a hero for us.”
Bayindir has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in recent weeks, but his performance today could put an end to the speculation.
