Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly urged the hierarchy to sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez this summer, according to TyC Sports.
The Red Devils have Andre Onana as the first-choice goalkeeper, but he is presently out with a hamstring injury. Onana is expected to return at the start of next month, but his future remains uncertain.
TyC Sport claim that Martinez is the ‘chosen one’ for Amorim and talks are underway with Villa over a potential move. Unai Emery‘s side have rejected a loan approach, but talks are expected to continue between the clubs.
Martinez has already given the green light for a transfer through his representative and the onus is on United to make a serious approach to secure his services from the Villans this summer.
Villa are no longer under pressure to sell, having sold their women’s team to sort out PSR issues. They won’t accept less than £40m to part ways with Martinez.
