Ruud van Nistelrooy predicts a ‘good outcome’ when he meets incoming Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim for the first time to discover his future.

Van Nistelrooy, whose two-week spell as interim manager will finish against Leicester City on Sunday, wants to continue in the assistant’s role that he enjoyed under Erik ten Hag.

That depends on Amorim, who officially starts his new job at Old Trafford on Monday. ‘I am calm, to be fair. I am trusting the process. I believe the outcome will be good,’ said Van Nistelrooy.

‘Whenever the communication will take place, I will see. But we know what the time frames are, so I am aware of that.’

Asked if he would report for work next week as usual, Van Nistelrooy added: ‘Definitely.’
