Salah is out of contract with the Anfield club in June 2025 and will be able to speak to rival clubs over a potential move as a free agent as of January.

The Egypt international recently described himself as being “more out than in” with Liverpool as contract talks have failed to progress as quickly as hoped.

This has fuelled speculation that Salah, 32, could leave Liverpool in the summer. While the Saudi Pro League had appeared to be a viable destination for the attacker, PSG had emerged as another strong possibility.

President Nasser Al-Khelaifi confirmed his admiration for the player but said that no steps have been made towards making a move for him.

“I love Salah because of what he’s done for our part of the world,” Al-Khelaifi, a Qatari, said. “I’m very proud of him and for what he’s done in the Premier League with Liverpool.

“I have great respect for him and for Liverpool. So we’ve never spoken to him. Respect Liverpool and respect the player – he has a contract with Liverpool and we’ve never spoken to him.”

Salah the best in the Premier League

Salah’s electric form this season has only served to underline his immense quality deep into his career, with the attacker playing the key role for the Reds as they have shot to the top of the Premier League standings under Arno Slot.

He has 13 goals and eight assists in 14 Premier League matches this term, scoring at least one in each of his last seven.

Salah was particularly impressive against Newcastle in Wednesday’s 3-3 draw at St. James’ Park as he scored two and setup another for the Reds in what was a thrilling clash.
