Nemanja Matic has slammed his former Manchester United teammate Jadon Sancho for always being late.

Matic and Sancho were colleagues together at Old Trafford until the Serbia midfielder left to join Roma in 2022.

And Matic, who has since left again to play for Rennes, has lifted the lid on Sancho’s perceived lack of professionalism by revealing that the winger was regularly late for training.

What did Matic say about Sancho?

“At Chelsea, players acted professionally, they were punctual and were never late for training but at United it happened almost every day. Among the players who would always be late were Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho and a couple of other players,” Matic told YU Planet.

“The rest of us who were always on time were angry so we decided to form a kind of an internal disciplinary committee with me serving as its president.

“I put a sheet of paper up on the wall where I documented the names of individuals arriving late. During one particular season we collected around £75,000 in fines.

“We had planned to use the money to throw a party in London but we didn’t due to the Covid outbreak.”

Sancho’s attitude towards training has long been questioned, and indeed led to him being exiled by manager Erik ten Hag this season.

Earlier this campaign, Ten Hag criticised Sancho publicly for his poor performances in training, which was followed by the winger essentially calling his manager a liar on social media.

Sancho has not been called up since the incident and has been barred from training with the first team, as well as using their facilities and canteen.

Sancho has also been deleted from the team’s WhatsApp group by Ten Hag.

He now looks all but certain to leave Manchester United in January.

Matic’s comments won’t help him shake off his tag as someone who lacks professionalism.
