Leroy Sané is in danger of being suspended after elbowing Pascal Gross in the head during Bayern Munich’s 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund.

The German Football Association has confirmed to DPA that the incident is being examined with a view to opening an investigation.

In the second half, Sané elbowed Gross, who briefly held his face, but didn’t go down and played on without any major protests.

Neither referee Sven Jablonski nor video assistant referee Benjamin Brand noticed the incident.

Just over a year ago, the 28-year-old was handed a three-match international ban after pushing Austria and Mainz defender Philipp Mwene in the face during a match for Germany.
