Former Milan star and President of the Montenegrin Football Association, Dejan Savicevic, has revealed that he advised Juventus talent Vasilije Adzic to leave the club in order to gain experience almost immediately after he joined the Bianconeri last summer.
The 19-year-old Adzic stole the headlines over the weekend after hitting a 91st-minute winner in a chaotic 4-3 victory for Juventus over rivals Inter in the Derby d’Italia at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday evening.
The two-time Montenegro international joined Juventus from FK Budućnost Podgorica in the summer of 2024, and spent most of the season split between the Next Gen side and first team.

Adzic made 10 appearances for the Juventus Next Gen side in Serie C last season, most as a starter, scoring four goals and providing two assists in the process. Playing opportunities in the first team were more limited, though, with nine short substitute appearances across Serie A, the Champions League, Coppa Italia and Club World Cup.
What Savicevic told Adzic about leaving Juventus
Savicevic, speaking in an interview with TMW, has revealed that he encouraged Adzic to seek a loan move after joining Juventus in order to better his development.
Asked how high he thinks Adzic can go in his career, Savicevic said: “It all depends on how many chances he gets to play.
“My advice last year was to change environment last summer and move, for example, to a mid-table side in Italy where he could play about 30 games as a starter, and then return to Juventus ready to make a big impact.

“He hasn’t played much for a year or more, and as I used to be a player, I know what it’s like to take such a long break. Now he’s been given a chance, so I hope that he gets more minutes.
“On the other hand, more minutes and opportunities at Juventus means more pressure, which they will have to manage. His talent is undeniable, if he has enough opportunities to play and grow, he can reach very high levels.”
Savicevic says that he worries for Adzic’s development if he takes an extended period away from playing regular, senior football at his age.
“It all depends on how many opportunities he has to play,” he explained.
“If I think back to the career I had, I never had a break before getting to Milan. From the age of 18, I was a starter and played 90% of the games for the clubs I played for. I only missed matches because of suspension or injury.
“I was consistent, and Vasilije, in the last year-and-a-half, has played a lot less. He’s basically had a break, and these things can leave a mark on a career.”
