Die Knappen are hoping to fend off competition from England to agree terms with their desired head coach.

Schalke 04 are seriously considering appointing Miron Muslic as their new head coach, Sky Germany is informed.

Talks between the Bosnian-born Austrian manager and the Royal Blues are in advanced stage.

EFL Championship side Hull City are still in the race, but Schalke are pushing hard to get the deal over the line.

The promising 42-year-old head coach is under contract with Plymouth Argyle until 2028. He was also a candidate for Hannover 96 in winter.
