FC Schalke 04 have reached an agreement with Maximilian Lüftl, according to recent reports emanating from Kicker.de.

The 31-year-old will join the high-flying 2. Bundesliga club from Gelsenkirchen as their Head of Scouting and Transfers.

It remains unclear exactly when Lüftl will begin his new role. On paper, he is still employed as chief scout at Hannover 96 until the summer.

However, given recent developments, it is not unlikely that Hannover and Lüftl will part ways prematurely.

Just yesterday, the Lower Saxony club officially presented Jörg Schmadtke as the successor to sporting director Marcus Mann.

Furthermore, Kicker assumes that Lüftl no longer has much of an influence in the preparation of the summer transfers.

Therefore, a swift departure to Schalke seems the logical where Lüftl will succeed Ben Manga, who had to vacate his post about three months ago.
