Sean Dyche called Everton‘s 3-2 home defeat to Bournemouth as the most frustrating of his managerial career as his side suffered the most dramatic collapse in Premier League history.
Everton became the first team to lead 2-0 after 87 minutes and still lose as Antoine Semenyo’s first goal late on was added to by injury-time headers from Lewis Cook and super-sub Luis Sinisterra.
Goodison Park broke out in a chorus of boos at the final whistle and Dyche laid into his shellshocked players afterwards.
‘The game lasts for as long as the referee makes it last and you have to play for every breath of the game,’ he said.
‘You see a side dominate so clearly and then just not do the basics. Win your headers, win your tackles, win your races and you win the game.
Sean Dyche voiced exasperation of his side that ‘threw away’ a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth

Lewis Cook scored a dramatic leveller as the Cherries came from two goals down at Everton

Everton have now lost the first three games of the 2024-25 Premier League season
‘But for whatever reason they score a goal and we’re just looking at each other and waiting for someone else to make a difference…
‘After the first goal I could smell it in the air. I’m thinking: ‘This ain’t right” and I’m screaming at them to get their shape and do the ugly side of the game, and we didn’t.
‘I’ve had a few (defeats) down my years as a player, coach, manager but this is the most frustrating.
‘To dominate a game for so long and come out of it without something is incredibly frustrating. These are ones that as a manager you scratch your head.’

Boos rang round Goodison at the final whistle with Everton players looked ashen-faced

The unlikely win means Bournemouth pick up their first three points of the new season
Everton now head into the international break without a point from their first three games and still awaiting takeover news regarding prospective new owner John Textor.
The one positive piece of news is scoring their first league goals of the season through Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewis before the late horror show.
