Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo is ready to take the “next step” in his career with a move away from the Premier League side, according to Ghana head coach Otto Addo.
Semenyo has made an electric start to the Premier League season with Andoni Iraola’s side and has attracted interest from a string of major clubs.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham have all been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, who has a €74 million (£65m) release clause in his Bournemouth contract that will be active in January.
Addo says that Semenyo has earned the possibility of his big move – and that it would be “natural” for him to take the leap.
Speaking to The Athletic, he said: “He has done very well at Bournemouth, but with all the respect for Bournemouth and what they’re doing, surely it is natural for him to take the next step.”
The Ghana boss played down the possibility of a deal impacting Semenyo’s form at the World Cup, where he will face England, Croatia and Panama.
“Whether it’s in the winter or summer, it is a different question, but it won’t make a difference for us. I’m looking forward to him showing more of what he can to the world,” Addo said.
Antoine Semenyo: A consistently developing talent
Semenyo’s Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has climbed continuously throughout his career, with the winger exceeding expectations with his consistent development.
Bournemouth signed him for only €10.3m from Bristol City in 2022, when his ETV stood at €4.2m, but the Cherries can look forward to a substantial profit when he is ultimately sold.
His ETV stands at €51.3m, which is a career-high figure for the London-born attacker.
Antoine Semenyo vs Premier League wingers: Overall performance (2025/26)
This rise in value has been fuelled by outstanding on-field performances. Semenyo has also been one of the leading wingers in the Premier League so far this season, catching the eye particularly with his dribbling. According to data analytics experts SciSports, only Jeremy Doku of Manchester City has been better than him in this regard, while in terms of overall performance, he stands fourth among players in his position.
The clamour of leading clubs seeking to sign Semenyo is, therefore, understandable – and Bournemouth will be powerless to stop a move should one of the Premier League’s giants match his release fee.
