Belgian joins United

Manchester United hope to have solved their goalkeeping conundrum in signing Belgian shot stopper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. The 23-year-old Belgium under-21 international will step in for Andre Onana at Old Trafford, and is a big coup for Ruben Amorim‘s side, who have struggled in the goalkeeping department so far this campaign.

United have agreed a five-year deal for a fee in the region of €21m/£18m plus add-ons. The move was wrapped up on deadline day after United accelerated talks in the final 48 hours; multiple reliable outlets put the guaranteed figure at roughly £18–18.2m

Lammens is 23, 1.93m tall, right-footed, with a growing reputation for handling crosses and staying composed under pressure. Belgian and English coverage consistently highlight his shot-stopping skills; the size and reach are obvious, and his penalty record at Antwerp has been a calling card. He’s not a sweeper-keeper in the Ederson mold, but he’s comfortable playing from set structures and has the positioning to command his box.

Expect Amorim to start with Onana while bedding in Lammens via cups and rotation, with a genuine chance to win the job over time. For the price point and age curve, United get a low-risk, high-upside addition.
