Serie A | Bologna 0-0 Torino: Possession proves futile in poor draw

Bologna dominated possession, but it was Torino who had the best chance to win with Che Adams hitting the crossbar.

The Rossoblu were unbeaten in five, but fumbled a 2-0 lead to draw with Fiorentina at the weekend. Emil Holm was sent off in that game and therefore suspended today, with Ciro Immobile injured, but Jens Odgaard returned to the squad. Coach Vincenzo Italiano was released from hospital, but not ready for the touchline yet after treatment for pneumonia. Toro had found form with seven points in three rounds, as Alberto Paleari took the gloves following sensational saves against Genoa. Niels Nkounkou, Zanos Savva and Perr Schuurs remained on the treatment table.

See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

Che Adams thought he had opened the scoring for Torino when he pounced on the Martin Vitik error to go clear, but the powerful finish cracked against the crossbar.

Moments later, the hosts replied with a Charalampos Lykogiannis curler that was arrowing into the far top corner until Paleari’s save at full stretch. On the resulting corner, Federico Bernardeschi fired inches wide.

Santiago Castro came on for the second half and Bologna seemed far more aggressive, having dominated possession with little to show for it.

Immediately, a Bernardeschi half-volley was looping into the far top corner until the acrobatic Paleari fingertip save.

Lykogiannis again skimmed the upright, then had to help in defence with a crucial block on Cesare Casadei.

Nadir Zortea’s angled drive whistled past the far post, but Bologna were unable to find a way through.
