COMO, ITALY – MAY 10: Gabriel Strefezza of Como 1907 celebrates after scoring their team’s secon goal during the Serie A match between Como 1907 and Cagliari Calcio at Stadio G. Sinigaglia on May 10, 2025 in Como, Italy. (Photo by Marco Luzzani/Getty Images)
Como completed the comeback after a Pepe Reina howler to keep Cagliari anxious, securing a sixth consecutive Serie A victory with Maxence Caqueret, Gabriel Strefezza and Patrick Cutrone.
While the hosts had already celebrated their top flight security, the Sardinians still needed another push after their 2-1 home defeat to Udinese. Yerry Mina and Florinel Coman didn’t make the trip, while the season is already over for Como’s Assane Diao, Sergi Roberto and Alberto Dossena.
See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.
Maxi Perrone’s scorcher stung Elia Caprile’s gloves from distance, with Nicolas Viola firing just wide on the counter-attack from the resulting corner.
Cagliari took the lead in curious circumstances, as Pepe Reina made a howler allowing the Michel Adopo angled drive to squirm under his body at the near bottom corner.

Mergim Vojvoda couldn’t quite get the final touch to the Marc Kempf ball across the face of goal, then on the corner Tommaso Augello made a desperate double block to deny first Tasos Douvikas and then Kempf.
Caprile got down to palm away a Nico Paz volley from the edge of the area and Roberto Piccoli tested Reina at the near post.
Como equalised with a beautiful goal, as Maxi Perrone dinked a ball over the top for Maxence Caqueret to then lob the on-rushing Caprile. It was initially ruled offside, but VAR confirmed he had timed the run absolutely perfectly.
Como thank VAR twice

The hosts turned it around in first half stoppages, as Gabriel Strefezza cut inside from the left and slipped as he took the right-foot curler from the edge of the area, that fall giving the ball an extra bit of bend to swerve into the far top corner.
Roberto Piccoli should’ve equalised when getting the header completely wrong from three yards on a Zito Luvumbo cross.
Luvumbo also fired over from a promising angle after cutting inside Alex Valle, but the Lariani again had a goal disallowed only to be confirmed via VAR. This time it was Nico Paz who floated a great pass over the top off the outside of the boot, as Augello was too slow getting back, allowing Patrick Cutrone to slip the finish past Caprile one-on-one. It was the ideal way to mark his 100th appearance for the club.
Razvan Marin’s angled drive whistled just wide, but Cagliari will have to wait a little longer before guaranteeing their Serie A status.
Nico Paz nearly added a fourth in stoppages, his free kick grazing a coat of paint off the upright.
Como 3-1 Cagliari
Adopo 22 (Ca), Caqueret 40 (Co), Strefezza 45+2 (Co), Cutrone 77 (Co)
