Milan forward Rafael Leao and Italy international Nicolo Zaniolo are among the players who will not be able to play during the next round of Serie A fixtures after picking up suspensions during Week 35 over the weekend just gone.

Three players were shown red cards over the weekend’s round of Serie A fixtures, while several others will also have to serve suspensions due to the accumulation of yellow cards.

Zaniolo has been given the strongest punishment of any player over the weekend. He will have to serve a two-match suspension after being shown a red card at the final whistle of Fiorentina’s 1-0 loss against his former club, Roma.

That means that Zaniolo will be unavailable for Fiorentina’s upcoming Serie A fixtures away against Venezia and at home against Bologna, but he will still be able to play in the second leg of the Conference League semi-final against Real Betis on Thursday.

There were two red cards shown during Lazio’s 1-0 win away against Empoli on Sunday. Both Elseid Hysaj and Lorenzo Colombo were sent off for double yellow card offences, and will both have to serve one-match bans as a result.

Additionally, Rafael Leao will have to serve a one-match suspension after picking up his fifth Serie A yellow card of the season during the 2-1 win over Genoa on Monday night.

The same is also true for Genoa’s Morten Thorsby, and for Isak Hien of Atalanta, who is now up to 10 yellow cards in Serie A this season. They will both also serve one-match bans.
