Genoa and Napoli played out a tight 3-2 affair as Antonio Conte’s side picked up all three points despite a spirited Genoa performance.

Football Italia’s Man of the Match was Scott McTominay, for his dominant performance in midfield, and goal, before having to come off to add to Napoli’s growing injury list.

Lowest Genoa rating: Bijlow – Has been decent since his arrival at the club but had one of his poorer performances tonight. Could have done better for the first goal, did not look convincing.

Coach: Daniele De Rossi – 6.5 – Credit has to go to the Genoa coach who has really turned things around since his appointment. Was unlucky to be denied a point after setting up his team well to counter the champions.

NapoliMeret 5.5; Rrahmani 7, Buongiorno 4.5 (Beukema 6), Juan Jesus 4.5; Gutierrez 5.5, Lobotka 6.5, McTominay 7.5 (Giovane 5.5), Spinazzola 6; Vergara 6.5, Elmas 6.5; Hojlund 7.5

Best Napoli player: Scott McTominay – Could have been Hojlund for his brace but, before he came off injured, the Scottish midfielder really demonstrated his value once more, controlling the midfield and scoring a delightful goal to give Napoli the lead before half-time.

Coach: Antonio Conte 6.5 – Still working with a barebones squad, McTominay the latest of a growing infirmary, but managed to avoid a potential banana skin thanks to a bit of good fortune on the day.
