Roma coach Claudio Ranieri is considering resting Paulo Dybala after his UEFA Europa League brace midweek, as they are set to host rock-bottom Monza.

It kicks off at 20:45 CET (19:45 GMT) at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

With Lazio, Fiorentina, Milan, and Bologna all dropping points over the weekend, the Giallorossi have a chance to close in on the European spots by beating Alessandro Nesta’s side. A win would leave them just one point behind both the Diavolo and the Rossoblù, and two adrift of the Viola.

The former Leicester boss will be without Artem Dovbyk due to injury, but he could also initially leave Dybala on the bench to manage his condition, with Tommaso Baldanzi set to pair with either Matias Soulé or Lorenzo Pellegrini behind lone striker Eldor Shomurodov.

New signings Lucas Gourna-Douath and Anass Salah-Eddine appear likely to get the nod in midfield alongside Bryan Cristante, with Mats Hummels returning to the starting XI.

Danilo D’Ambrosio and Gianluca Caprari will be unavailable for Monza, while Silvère Ganvoula should lead the Biancorossi’s attacking line.
