Several unnamed Bundesliga clubs interested in AZ Alkmaar talent likened to Pedri

The young midfielder is already earning high praise from Ronald Koeman amid interest from unnamed Bundesliga sides.

According to Sky Germany’s information, several unnamed Bundesliga clubs are interested in AZ Alkmaar talent Kees Smit.

Smit is also making good progress in professional football and already has around 50 appearances for Alkmaar under his belt.

The next step in his career is imminent and rumors about him joining some of the biggest clubs in Europe were circulating in summer. 

In England, Crystal Palace have also been impressed by the talent, especially since their 3-1 victory over AZ in the Conference League.

A price tag of €23million is said to be the benchmark price for the Dutch midfielder whose contract runs until 2028.

Despite not even featuring for the Netherlands national team, coach Ronald Koeman has already likened Smit to Barcelona’s Pedri. 

“I already knew Pedri as coach of FC Barcelona. And now I see similar things in Smit as I did in Pedri back then.

“If he achieves just half of what Pedri achieved in his career, everyone in the Netherlands will be happy.

“The turns, the ambidexterity, the vision: I already saw all of that in Pedri. What Smit is showing at such a young age is impressive,” he said.
