Despite Harry Kane’s flawless time at Bayern Munich to date, last summer, Max Eberl was keen to source a suitable backup to the striker.
According to BILD’s podcast ‘Bayern Insider’, Ademola Lookman of Atalanta Bergamo was a concrete option for Bayern’s sporting director.
The Bavarians giants were reportedly already in complete agreement with the Nigerian international who has earned 41 caps to date.
However, it’s well known now that the deal fell through and instead, Nicolas Jackson was loaned from Chelsea for a staggering sum.
Serie A side Atalanta categorically rejected a Lookman loan from the Bavarians, hoping instead for €50million in transfer fees.
Ultimately, 28-year-old attacker would transfer to Atlético Madrid in the recent winter transfer window for a fee of just €35million.
Now, a frustrated Jackson still hopes for more playing time, but under Vincent Kompany, the Senegalese player is only Kane’s backup.
For almost twice of the €16.5million amount paid for the Senegalese star, they could have competed heavily for Lookman in January.
The ex-Leipzig man is now a regular starter in Madrid, with around 500 minutes of playing time and seven goal contributions nine games.
