‘It’s happened again,’ was the chant ringing out from the away end at St Mary’s after Sam Morsy’s 95th minute strike denied Southampton their first win of the season.

It was in reference to Jeremy Sarmiento’s 97th minute winner for Ipswich at Portman Road when the sides met in the Championship last season.

This was a cruel blow for Russell Martin’s side, who had led since the fifth minute after a first senior goal from Southampton’s 18-year-old sensation Tyler Dibling.

‘Gutted’ was the word Saints captain Flynn Downes used to sum up his feelings at dropping two points against the side he once wore the armband for.

‘It feels like a loss. It’s a hard one to take at the moment but there were so many positives. We have to see the game out, control the game or put it to bed by getting a second.’

It has been a baptism of fire for Saints since returning to the Premier League but they are excited by academy product Dibling.

‘The club’s turned down bids for him, so he’s not a secret to people who have been watching under 21s football,’ said Martin.

‘When you’re 18 and you play in the Premier League to the level he’s played at, I think every club in the world probably looks at you.’
