Transfer Deadline Day was finished by the time Chelsea completed transfers involving Raheem Sterling, Jadon Sancho and Armando Broja, but while the Blues might have left things beyond the last minute to get these deals over the line, all were successfully completed.
In comes Sancho from Man Utd on a one-year loan, with the obligation to buy assuming Chelsea finish higher than 15th in the Premier League this season, while Sterling has gone to Arsenal and Broja has hooked up with Everton.
The Blues were able to get these transfers ratified in the early hours of Saturday morning because deal sheets had successfully been put in for them late on Deadline Day. This allowed the clubs involved in these trades two additional hours to get all the paperwork over the line.
Where Chelsea infamously failed to do this with Hakim Ziyech in the January transfer window of 2023, they had their house sufficiently in order to get everything sorted this time around.

Arsenal finally get their man
Arsenal, meanwhile, had been chasing a wide attacker throughout the window and around 1am announced that a late raid for Sterling had been successful.
With the former Liverpool and Manchester City man frozen out of Chelsea’s plans, he was more than happy to move across London to the Gunners.
“It’s one where we kind of left it late but it’s one I was hoping for,” said Sterling. “Looking at everything, I’m just, like, ‘This is a perfect fit for me’, and I’m super happy that we got it over the line.

“I spoke with Edu [Arsenal’s sporting director] and I said that it’s something you can see from the outside, you can see the real togetherness from Mikel’s time here and you see the journey that the boys are on, and you can see the hunger, and I keep saying again, the togetherness is something I’m looking to be a part of.”
Sterling moves to the Emirates on a loan deal that has no purchase option or obligation.
Equally, Reiss Nelson left Arsenal in another deal sheet move, with the forward joining up with Fulham on loan.
