Angelo Stiller is in a race against time to be fit for VfB Stuttgart’s DFB-Pokal final against Arminia Bielefeld on May 24 in Berlin.
The central midfielder was forced off during Sunday’s 4-0 win over Augsburg, and subsequent medical examinations on Monday confirmed he has suffered a ligament injury in his ankle.
While a return for the final has not been ruled out, his availability will depend on how his recovery progresses.
“We’re hopeful that Angelo can feature in the final, but we’ll have to wait and see how the healing process goes,” said Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth.
Stiller will definitely miss Stuttgart’s final game of the Bundesliga season against RB Leipzig this weekend.
