The DFB Sports Court, part of German football’s governing body, has rejected VfB Stuttgart’s red card appeal for Nick Woltemade.
No obvious error was spotted on the part of referee Daniel Schlager who sent the striker off for a second yellow card offence.
Woltemade, who had been booked earlier in the game, dangerously caught the foot of Mitchell Weiser in the 65th-minute last Saturday leading to the dismissal.
Stuttgart CEO Alexander Wehrle stated “we are disappointed with the decision because in our view, the referee clearly made an error”.
“Nick Woltemade only made minimal contact with his opponent … it would therefore have been logical to revoke Nick’s suspension,” he added.
The 23-year-old striker will be unavailable to Sebastian Hoeness as the Swabian club take on 1.FC Union Berlin.
