Supercoppa Final Four format confirmed for 2025-26, but not certain on location

It is now confirmed that the Supercoppa Italiana will again use a Final Four format in 2025-26, but they are waiting to see if Saudi Arabia will host again.

The tournament had traditionally only been a one-off match between the winners of the Serie A title and the Coppa Italia holders.

In the 2024-25 campaign, this was expanded to include the runners-up of both those competitions, facing off in semi-finals before the showdown for the trophy.

It was won by Milan, who came back from 2-0 down to defeat Inter 3-2.

Supercoppa Italiana to stick with Final Four

That was an experiment, but considered to be a successful one, so President of the Lega Serie A Ezio Simonelli announced today that the Final Four format would be carried on into 2025-26.

“Now we await the decision of the organisers in Saudi Arabia, planned for the end of April, regarding the possibility of hosting the next edition of the competition.”

The Lega Serie A signed a contract with the Saudi organisers allowing them to host two editions over the course of the next four years, but not specifying which seasons those would be.

A great deal might depend on which clubs will be involved in the Supercoppa Italiana Final Four and whether they represent a draw for the local supporters.

Other options outside of Italy would include the United States or China.
