Napoli defeated Milan 2-0 this evening in their Supercoppa Italiana semi-final, with goals from David Neres and Rasmus Hojlund separating the two teams.

Football Italia’s Player of the Match was Napoli forward Rasmus Hojlund, for his involvement with both goals helping prove the difference between the two sides.

Napoli: Milinkovic-Savic 7.5; Jesus 6.5, Rrahmani 7, Di Lorenzo 6; Spinazzola 7, McTominay 6, Lobotka 6.5, Politano 6.5; Elmas 6.5, Neres 7; Hojlund 7.5

Best Napoli player: Rasmus Hojlund – After his heroics in Napoli’s recent win over Juventus, the Great Dane has once again come up clutch when it matters for Conte’s side. Did very well to create the space and opportunity for Neres’ opener, even if helped somewhat on its way by Koni De Winter and Mike Maignan, then wrapped up the match with his goal assisted by Spinazzola.

Lowest Napoli Rating: Giovanni Di Lorenzo – The more you watch Di Lorenzo at centre-back, the less right it feels to have Di Lorenzo at centre-back. Did not have a large amount to do today but looked slightly hesitant in his defensive duels. Looked better the further up the pitch he was.

Coach: Conte 7 – Another big domestic victory for Conte, whose struggles on the continent seem planets away from their competence against Italian opposition. Set up his team well to counter the Milan threat but was helped by a little bit of good fortune on the night.

Milan: Maignan 5; Pavlovic 6.5, De Winter 5, Tomori 5.5; Estupinan 6.5, Rabiot 6, Jashari 6, Loftus Cheek 6, Saelemaekers 7; Pulisic 6, Nkunku 6

Best Milan player: Alexis Saelemaekers – Fresh from a renewed contract, the Belgian was easily Milan’s best player during his hour or so on the pitch. Created a number of chances for the Rossoneri, repaying Allegri’s faith in him. However, was let down by his teammates.

Lowest Milan rating: Mike Maignan – Could’ve gone to Koni De Winter just as much as the Frenchman but Maignan’s consistent excellence makes his bad days stand out more. Was left flailing on the ground for Neres’ opener and was beaten from a very tight angle for Hojlund’s goal.

Coach: Allegri 6 – Tried to experiment and was somewhat rewarded with rare glimpses of excellence from the likes of Estupinan and Nkunku, who have taken time to settle since their arrival in Lombardy. However, was generally outclassed by his counterpart Conte.
