Tacchinardi: ‘Juventus will win the Scudetto’ if they sign Tonali from Newcastle

Former Juventus midfielder Alessio Tacchinardi feels the Bianconeri will surely win the Scudetto if they sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle.

Italy midfielder Tonali has long been linked with a move to Juventus, especially at the beginning of the summer transfer window.

Although he ultimately remained at Newcastle, Tacchinardi believes Juventus should still chase the ex-Milan star.

“I had the chance to follow Italy in Bergamo, watching Tonali and imagining him close to Khephren Thuram,” Tacchinardi told Ilbianconero.com via Calciomercato.com.

“I’m sure Juventus would win the title. If Juventus sign Tonali, they’ll win the Scudetto.”

Juventus didn’t make any new signings in central midfield during the summer transfer window, prioritising reinforcements in attack, where they welcomed Jonathan David, Edon Zhegrova and Lois Openda.

The Serie A giants also signed Portuguese full-back Joao Mario in a player-plus-cash swap deal involving Alberto Costa.

Tonali’s agent, Beppe Riso, hinted in February that signing his client may prove to be unaffordable for Serie A clubs in the coming years.

Tonali is under contract with Newcastle until June 2028.

Juventus have won the opening two games of the season against Parma and Genoa, keeping two clean sheets.

Their next game is at home against Inter, on Saturday, September 13.
