Igli Tare refused to answer questions about his potential appointment as Milan’s sporting director but said Antonio Conte and Massimiliano are ‘the best Italian coaches.’

The former Albania international is one of the leading candidates to become the new Milan sporting director in 2025-26, especially after negotiations with Fabio Paratici collapsed.

A former Lazio striker and sporting director, Tare was the guest of Tring TV Albania on Wednesday, but he refused to answer a question about Milan speculation.

“I can’t say anything. They have a good team and they can compete for the title,” Tare said via Gazzetta.

Milan’s new sporting director will likely pick a new coach for 2025-26, replacing Sergio Conceiçao.

Conte and Allegri have already been mentioned for the Milan job, and surely both would suit Tare’s project.

“Allegri and Conte are the best Italian coaches,” the former striker said.

Tare was the first director to give Simone Inzaghi a chance in senior football when, in 2016, the Italian tactician was promoted to the Lazio first team from Primavera.

“He was predestined, I’ve always said it. And he still has room for improvement,” Tare concluded.

Milan currently sit 9th in the Serie A table, outside a European placement.
