When Marc-André ter Stegen tore his patella tendon in September, it was feared that Germany’s first-choice goalkeeper would miss the rest of the season.

However, it appears the 32-year-old may be able to return sooner than feared after making great strides in his recovery.

Spanish outlet Sports reports that ter Stegen, who recently returned to training with Barcelona, could be back in action for a possible Champions League quarter-final in April.

Oliver Baumann and Alexander Nübel have filled in for ter Stegen with the German national team while the former Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper has been sidelined.

In total, ter Stegen has featured 42 times for Germany.
