The 10 youngest goalscorers in Champions League history

Ansu Fati is the youngest ever goalscorer in Champions League history after scoring for Barcelona at 17 years, 1 month and 9 days old.

The Spaniard burst onto the scene at Camp Nou and he capped off a blistering start to his senior career with his first Champions League goal against Inter Milan in December 2019. In the process, he became the competition’s youngest ever goalscorer since its rebrand in 1992.

Fellow Barcelona academy graduate Lamine Yamal is the second-youngest goalscorer of all time in the Champions League. Like Fati, he was also promoted into the Blaugrana’s first-team at a young age and he netted his first Champions League goal during a 2-1 defeat to AS Monaco in September 2024 aged 17 years, 2 months and 6 days.

George Ilenikhena is in third place after scoring a last-minute winner to secure a shock 3-2 victory for Royal Antwerp over Barcelona in December 2023. The striker was just 17 years, 3 months and 27 days old at the time.

Antonio Nusa is the fourth-youngest Champions League goalscorer in history. The Norway winger was 17 years, 4 months and 27 days old when he netted for Club Brugge during a 4-0 win against Porto in September 2022.

Peter Ofori-Quaye was the youngest goalscorer in Champions League history for 22 years before being overtaken by the aforementioned Fati, with the Ghana forward scoring for Olympiacos against Rosenborg at the age of 17 years, 6 months and 10 days back in October 1997. He has now fallen down to fifth.

In sixth place is former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic. He scored his first Champions League goal for Dinamo Zagreb in a 7-1 loss to Lyon in December 2011 aged 17 years, 7 months and 1 day.

The seventh-youngest goalscorer in Champions League history is Cesc Fabregas. The Spaniard was 17 years, 7 months and 3 days old when he scored his first goal in the competition during a 5-1 Arsenal win over Rosenborg in 2004.

Bojan Krkic is the third Barcelona player included in this list and he features in eighth place after scoring his first Champions League goal in a 1-0 win over Schalke in 2008. He was 17 years, 7 months and 4 days old.

Sparta Prague centre-back Martin Klein is the ninth-youngest goalscorer in Champions League history (17 years, 7 months and 25 days), while Basel forward Breel Embolo completes the top 10 (17 years, 8 months and 21 days).
