The FFF rejects PSG's appeal over Mbappe's 55 million

The French Football Federation (FFF) has rejectedParis Saint-Germain’s (PSG) request to re-examine the Professional Football League’s (LFP) order for the club to pay 55 million euros in unpaid wages and bonuses to former player Kylian Mbappe. On October 25, the LFP’s Joint Appeals Committee ruled in Mbappe’s favour. Following the ruling, PSG informed AFP that it would not comply with the payment within the one-week deadline, as had been set, citing disagreements over the interpretation of the contract.

The club had 10 days to submit a review request to the FFF’s executive committee. However, PSG submitted this request one day late, which led the FFF to reject it. As a result, the club is now obliged to pay the 55 million euros to Mbappe or take the case to court. According to club sources, they will opt for the latter route, as they have no intention of making the payment on the current terms.

PSG made their stance clear to the LFP

From the outset, PSG made clear its refusal to comply with the LFP’s decision, taking the matter to the competent courts. A club spokesman explained PSG’s position: “What is at issue, and will be resolved in an appropriate court, is that the original contract was legally amended in August 2023 in respect of the 2024/2025 season. This change was fully recognised by the player even in January 2024, until he decided to renege on all his commitments by leaving the club.”

PSG also announced that it would continue the procedure in other instances. According to the spokesman: “As a matter of principle, we appealed the non-binding ruling of September 13 before the National Joint Appeals Commission, despite its limited effect. Now that the Appeals Commission has confirmed the ruling of the Legal Commission, we are obliged to take the case to the competent courts, while continuing, despite repeated bad faith, to try to find an amicable solution with the player.”

Thus, the FFF has rejected PSG’s appeal due to the delay in its submission. With this decision, the dispute between the club and Kylian Mbappe seems destined to be resolved in court.
